Subscription & Refund Terms

How Alera subscriptions, introductory offers, renewals, cancellations, and refunds work.

Last updated: August 28, 2026

These Subscription & Refund Terms ("Terms") form an integral part of our Terms of Service and apply to paid services offered through the Alera mobile applications and website (together, the "Service"). By purchasing or using a paid service, you agree to these Terms.

Alera may provide both free and paid features. Access to subscription benefits and other paid features requires the applicable active subscription or purchase.

Any translation of these Terms is provided for convenience only. If there is a discrepancy between the English version and a translation, the English version prevails to the extent permitted by applicable law.

1. Subscription types and purchase channels

Alera offers paid subscriptions for different billing periods. You may purchase a subscription:

  • directly on the Alera website (a "Web Purchase");
  • through the Apple App Store; or
  • through Google Play.

The price, currency, billing cycle, subscription duration, introductory price, and regular renewal price applicable to your purchase are displayed before you confirm payment. Prices and available plans may vary by region, currency, purchase channel, promotion, and subscription duration.

2. Additional purchases

Alera may offer optional one-time purchases or recurring add-ons, such as premium content, consultations, guides, or supplementary features. The price and whether a purchase recurs will be disclosed before confirmation.

Unless stated otherwise at purchase, cancelling a main subscription does not automatically cancel a separately billed recurring add-on, and cancelling an add-on does not cancel the main subscription. Access to an add-on may depend on an active subscription where this is disclosed before purchase.

3. Free trials and introductory offers

Where offered, a free trial may automatically convert into a paid subscription unless it is cancelled before the trial ends. Eligibility may be limited to new subscribers and to one trial per person, account, device, payment method, or household. Any specific eligibility requirements will be disclosed with the offer.

Alera may also offer an introductory price for the first subscription period. Unless cancelled before renewal, an introductory offer automatically converts into a recurring subscription at the regular price and billing interval shown before purchase. Unused trial or promotional benefits may expire when the offer ends or when a paid subscription begins early.

4. Payment processing

Web Purchases are processed by Stripe. Depending on availability, Stripe may make payment methods such as cards, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Link available at checkout. By confirming a Web Purchase, you authorize Stripe to charge your selected payment method for the initial purchase and subsequent renewals, including applicable taxes or fees disclosed at checkout.

Purchases through Apple App Store or Google Play are processed by the applicable store and are also governed by that store's payment terms. You are responsible for keeping your payment method valid and sufficiently funded. Currency-conversion charges, international transaction fees, or other bank charges may be imposed by your provider and are outside Alera's control.

A bank may first show a payment as authorized or pending and later show it as settled. These entries ordinarily refer to the same transaction. If you cancel after authorization but before settlement, the authorized payment for the current billing period may still settle; cancellation prevents future renewals but does not reverse a payment already authorized unless a refund or withdrawal right applies.

5. Automatic renewal

Paid subscriptions and any separately identified recurring add-ons renew automatically unless cancelled before the end of the current billing period. The renewal period normally matches the selected plan unless the checkout states otherwise.

By purchasing a recurring subscription, you authorize recurring charges at the price and interval disclosed before purchase. If a renewal price changes, Alera or the applicable store will provide advance notice where required by law, allowing you to cancel before the changed price is charged.

6. Cancellation

You can manage or cancel a subscription as follows:

  • Web Purchases: use Manage subscription in your Alera confirmation email or in the footer on alera.app. If you cannot use the secure portal, contact finn@alera.app;
  • Apple App Store purchases: through your Apple Account subscription settings; and
  • Google Play purchases: through your Google Play subscription settings.

The individual link in your confirmation email opens the management page for that Web Purchase. When you use the general website link, Stripe sends a one-time verification code to the email address associated with the purchase before displaying or allowing changes to subscription information. Entering an email address alone does not provide access to a subscription.

Deleting the Alera app or your local app data does not cancel a subscription. Unless mandatory law or the applicable store provides otherwise, cancellation stops future renewal charges and takes effect at the end of the current paid billing period, with access continuing until then.

7. Refunds

Unless these Terms, Alera's Money-Back Policy, the offer presented at purchase, or applicable law states otherwise, payments are final and non-refundable. This includes subscription fees for partially used billing periods and charges for separately purchased additional items. No partial refund or credit is provided for unused time unless required by law or granted by Alera at its discretion.

Refund requests for purchases billed by Apple or Google are subject to the applicable store's process and policies and should normally be submitted through that store. For Web Purchases, contact finn@alera.app.

An approved Web Purchase refund will normally be returned to the original payment method. Where applicable law sets a deadline, the refund will be processed without undue delay and within that legally required period.

8. Verification for cancellation and refund requests

The Stripe portal verifies Web Purchase cancellation requests as described above. If you contact Alera for support with a cancellation or refund, Alera may need to identify your account and the associated transaction. We may ask for the email address used for your account and limited additional information relating to the purchase, such as a Stripe receipt, checkout session, store order number, or transaction identifier.

If the information provided is insufficient to locate the account or payment, we may be unable to process the request. We will explain what additional information is reasonably needed. This verification requirement does not limit statutory consumer rights, but a refund can only be issued after the relevant transaction has been identified.

9. Withdrawal rights in certain jurisdictions

Notice to consumers in the European Economic Area and United Kingdom

If you are a consumer in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, you generally have a statutory right to withdraw from a distance contract within 14 days without giving a reason. The withdrawal period normally begins when the subscription contract is concluded. Different rules or exceptions may apply after performance of a digital service or supply of digital content has begun with your prior request, consent, or acknowledgement.

To exercise a withdrawal right for a Web Purchase, use Alera's online withdrawal function, email finn@alera.app, or send another clear statement before the applicable period expires. The complete withdrawal notice and statutory model form are available on the Withdrawal Information page. For store-billed purchases, you may also need to use the withdrawal or refund process provided by Apple or Google. Nothing in these Terms limits mandatory withdrawal, cancellation, conformity, or refund rights under applicable consumer law.

Consumers in other jurisdictions

Consumers in other jurisdictions may have additional cancellation, withdrawal, or refund rights under local law. Alera will honor such rights to the extent required by applicable law.

10. Changes to these Terms

Alera may update these Terms from time to time. If a change materially affects an active subscription, we will provide reasonable advance notice where required. A change will not retroactively remove rights that have already accrued under applicable law.

11. Questions and support

The Service is provided by Alera GmbH, Ursula-Greve-Weg 9, 30900 Wedemark, Germany. For questions about subscriptions, billing, cancellation, or refunds, contact finn@alera.app.
